AIGA Baltimore visiting design lectures

AIGA Baltimore works hard to bring you thought-provoking lectures hosted at various spaces around the city- sometimes even hosted at MICA.
Art At Lunch in Falvey Hall or the BBOX
MICA Campus
MICA hosts different artist talks during the 12-1pm lunch hour on certain monday afternoons. Keep your eyes peeled for fliers in Cafe Doris and the Bunting Center. Subscribe to cobalt soup newsletters for more updates.
The Walters Museum

See the origins of typography on view in the Egyptian gallery or explore the room of assorted scientific curiosities on the second floor. The 19th Century collection is also fabulous. The Walters' professional graphic designers sometimes teach in the flex studio for juniors.
MICA Library
Don't overlook the library's collections: magazines, films in the MRC, graphic design, typography, and artists books.
Green Mount Cemetery

Huge, spooky, and incredibly beautiful, Green Mount Cemetery was built in 1839. Historical figures interred there include Johns Hopkins, Enoch Pratt, and John Wilkes Booth. The cemetery is also home to many amazing works of art including sculptures by William H. Rinehart and Hans Schuler. Check out the typography on headstones which recalls the Romantic Period. Tours are available Sunday mornings in May and October.
The Contemporary Art Museum

Located near the Walters Museum, the Contemporary offers changing exhibitions and internships.
The H&H Building
Downtown on Howard and Eutaw
The H&H Building is home to some of the greatest creative spaces in Baltimore city. The building houses not only living spaces, but also a great army navy store, a variety of galleries and music venues. Notably, Gallery Four, the Nudashank Gallery and the Floristree.
Baltimore Print Studios
Near 10 West North Avenue
BPS is new and exciting! The professional, fully-equipped studio offers screenprinting and letterpress resources to area artists and designers.
Special Collection at UMB Library

20 minutes south of the city in University if Maryland Baltimore County, which has a large library with fine and rare books that are gasp worthy! You might also check out the galleries in the art building while you're on campus; they are meticulously curated. Limited hours.
